Show reports 2007/2008/2009

November 2007 – Soberton Truly Scrumptious went to Home Counties Welsh Foal Show, were she behaved beautifully and won her Partbred filly foal class. Soberton Truly Scrumptious also won and took partbred foal champion at Southern Counties Welsh Foal show.

December 2007 – We took JT to his first ridden show at East Soley, it was a very wet afternoon and it was his first time indoors. He was a little fresh to begin with but settled into his show and went round with the others incredibly well. He was pulled in top and stayed first and qualified for NPS Winter Festival 2008.

January 2008 – We took Keeshen Lady Arwen and Rostor Danzy Jones to their first ridden shows, Barbie (Lady Arwen) was a very creditable 2 nd in the Novice ridden and Joe (Danzy Jones) was 3 rd in the Partbred ridden, only having a little buck in his show!!!

February 2008 –Joe and JT went to Tambrook show at Croften, Joe won the Coloured Ridden which qualified him for The Tambrook Evening Performance and JT came 3 rd which meant he also qualified for the evening performance.

April 2008 – Joe and JT attended the Tambrook Evening Performance, Joe went first and for a four year old coped amazingly, he was a very creditable 5 th. Then JT went in his final of the Novice M&M class and he also coped extremely well with all the music, banners and flower pots, he won his final. Very good evening and a very well ran show!. SCWPCA Spring show was next and Joe won his ridden Partbred class and was Partbred ridden champion. This was Trullingham Darius first show of the season, were he came 4 th in the Intermediate qualifier and 2 nd in the Bob Templeton Qualifier were he got his ticket for the NPS Champs. Lionheart Show next for JT to contest a Picton Qualifier, he duly won his class then took Picton Champion. NPS Spring Festival was next in April, this was JT`s first major show. We competed in the Picton Qualifier were he was second out of eleven Fells, Dales and Highlands, then he had is finals of the NPS Novice Winter qualifiers, JT was unexpectedly pulled in first out of 19 ponies, as we were rather overwhelmed by this pull, I completely fluffed it by wrong legging it!!!! Luckily we were only dropped to 3 rd. New Forest Enthusiasts show next for Joe, he came third in his first CHAPS ridden class which was an open class and there were horses in the class that had previously qualified for HOYS.

June 2008 – BSPS Area 11, JT came second in his Picton Qualifier, South of England next, this was JT`s first HOYS Qual, he came 5 th, unfortunately Darius was unplaced, but behaved beautifully. NPS area 24, JT was second again in his Picton Qual, Joe won his coloured ridden class then went on to be reserve coloured champion, we were all very proud of Joe as this was the first time he was ridden by the judge!!

July 2008 – Northleach show, Unfortunately Joe did not get anywhere in his Partbred class, Darius came 5 th in the Olympia qualifier. NPS area 25, JT competed in his first Bob Templeton qualifier he came third and the ticket was passed down to him as the first and second had already qualified. Next class was the Intermediate Qualifier; JT won and took Intermediate Champion. New Forest show was next and we thought we would have a go at an Inhand class with JT, we were very pleased when we came 4 th as we were the highest placed Gelding!

August 2008 – NPS CHAMPS – First day JT did an Inhand Class coming third out of 13 hairy ponies!!, Darius was 2 nd in the NFU welsh cob ridden class. Next day JT had is Picton and Intermediate finals, Pictons were up first and JT went amazingly he came 3 rd, then in the afternoon he was 2 nd in his Intermediate Finals!!! We were all very proud of JT that day!! Last day was the Bob Templeton finals, this is an Open class so JT and I were up against ponies that were going to HOYS and Olympia, and he found the set show very confusing!!! We were pulled in 6 th to start and then duly dopped to 8 th but we were still very pleased with him as they only place 10 ponies in the class, so we got a rosette!!! Royal London was next and this was a first for all of us, Joe contested the Concour d`Elegance class so we could get dressed up and go in the New indoor arena at Peterborough, there seemed to hundreds in it!!! He was so well behaved, we were called into the front line and ended up 4 th, big smiles all round that evening and lots of cheering!! Next day Joe had a go at the Hunter Qualifier class, he had to be ridden by a man judge which was a first for Joe, we were pulled in 2 nd but his ride was a bit novice and he was dropped to fourth. That afternoon Joe was a very creditable 8 th in the Middleweight Hunter Final. Final day at Royal London and it was Joe`s coloured final class, he went like a dream even though he was very tired!!! He came 2 nd and went through to the evening performance. I don’t think I have ever seen Dawn and David so proud!!! Joe is a very special horse to have achieved so much as a 4yro. Lovely show, very relaxed, and a privilege to ride for such lovely people! Thank you.

September 2008 – Newbury Show, last show of the season. Joe won his coloured ridden class, qualifying for CHAPS 2009. A wonderful end to a very successful Novice year with JT and Joe.

Looking forward to 2009 as JT and Joe will be competing in HOYS/RIHS. New to 2009, Telynau Gatsby and Leucarum Edward coming out under saddle. Oakville Charm and our homebred foal plus Blaengwen Belemy showing inhand.

January 2009
JT went to East soley on 7th January.  We came second in the NPS Open Winter qualifier, qualifing for NPS Spring Festival.  Good turnout of competitors even though it was bitter cold.

february 2009
Gatsby attempted his first ridden show at BSPS area 11 at Sparsholt on 28 Feb.  He was very well behaved and did not disgrace himself so we decided to enter him the Pure Novice ridden class.  He went round with the other ponies very well, even though he stopped half way round to have pee!!!!  We were pulled in third, we went out to do our individual show and unfortunately he lost all his energy and i couldnt even get him to trot!!  so I politely said thank you to the judge and i left the ring - Bless him.  Photos

April 2009
Took JT to Lionheart Horse Show at Thorney Island today, thought we better get him out before West Midlands Stallion Show next week.  We had a very good day, we won and qualified for the Large Section of the NPS Bob Templeton, we were open ridden M&M Champion and then we won the NPS Silver Medal qualifier.  JT went amazingly, really proud of him today!

2nd April 09
Went to West Midlands Stallion show for the HOYS ridden with JT,  we did not do so well here, JT was rather excited about being out in a big ring on grass with about 25 other hairy ponies!  He decided it would be much more fun to take off and race the others while we were cantering round!  I was not happy!  Never mind, we will keep on trying!

5th April 09
Took Gatsby to his second show at NPS Area 24 at Croften Manor EC, we had more energy this week and came a very respectable 2nd in the ridden stallion class.  Need to work on his walk!  He liked to jog round and shout at the ladies!!

Grafton Park, this was Joe`s first show of the year since Newbury last Sept.  He behaved beautfully, we did his first RIHS qualifier, we were pulled in 4th and the judge rode, unfortunately Joe is still a little novice in his ride, and he expects the judge to hold him up while he goes round!!!  but he gave a lovely safe ride just needed to be a little more forward!  we were dropped to 5th, but we were all very pleased with the way he went.  It was a long wait before JT`s class in the afternoon, it rained all day!  JT came 2nd in his first RIHS Qualifier achieving equal marks with the first pony (Govener of Whitfield), we got 46/50 for ride and 48/50 for conformation, the first pony got 48/50 for ride and 46/50 for conformation - The highest ride mark from equal marks will win the class. - SO NEAR YET SO FAR!!!!!  We managed not to race the other ponies this time!

15/16 May 2009
Royal Windsor
Mowgli went on the friday, coming 2nd in a strong Welsh B Adult inhand class.  JT competed in the Olympia class on Sat, he did a cracking show and was asked to strip in the top ten, unfortunately the Judge only placed the top six.

23 May  2009
Tambrook Show
Crickadarn Alfie (4yro, chestnut welsh cob) who belongs to Karen came to us on tuesday 19 May for schooling, we decided that we should take him to Tambrook Horse show and do an Inhand class in the unaffliated ring as he has only been to one show inhand before.  Alfie surprised us all by taking everything in his stride and won the M&M Inhand class then taking the Inhand championship.  Alfie was such a star we thought we should have a go at the ridden M&M class, we came 2nd, he was amazing.  Watch this space!!!!!

THAME VALLEY HORSE SHOW – Joe again was a a superstar by winning the Inhand Non Native Chaps Qualifier then winning the ridden Non Native Chaps Qualifer then Becoming Chaps Champion with his half brother in reserve, Dawn and Dave were very pleased!! - JT thought he would behave like a steam train in his class but managed a 10 th in the HOYS Qualifer.

NEW FOREST SHOW – Tuesday, JT was 8 th in the Olympias and is still behaving badly, we checked his mouth as he keeps tanking with me and we noticed he had a huge wolf tooth, vet meet us back at the yard that evening and removed the tooth also removed the other one which was just breaking through and growing into the other tooth, the top teeth were also really sharp which had caused sores on his gums, also he had a brusied tongue. I felt really bad!! Hopefully he will feel much happier now, he has to have about 5 days rest and we are off to NPS Champs on Tuesday!!!!!
Wednesday at the New Forest – Mowgli won his Section B Adult class, then went on to take the overall Welsh Championship. We were over the moon!! I cried in the ring, i was just not expecting to get Champion and beat all the Welsh Cobs!! Mowgli is our Super Star!!
